New Delhi: To ensure the safe passage for the leopards and other wildlife, the forest and wildlife department has come up with a proposal of ‘Underground Green corridor’ on the Surajkund-Pali road situated closure to the Asola Bhatti wildlife sanctuary at Delhi-Haryana state boundary.
The forest department has stressed taking this project as about the death of four leopards reported by hitting of speeding vehicles in the past six years.
There were three leopards that were living in the sanctuary for the past year. But, unfortunately, one among them was found killed on June 28 by the hitting of a speedy vehicle.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and the forest department conducted a feasibility study of the construction of the corridor. The team of Forest officials and DMRC has recommended the construction of underground construction of corridor instead of the overhead corridor.
Forest officials said that they have sent the proposal of the underground corridor for the safe passage of the leopards to the Chief wildlife warden. The process for the construction of the corridor which will turn lifesaver for the wildlife has picked up momentum.
