India’s first ‘Canopy Walk’ in Karnataka is open for tourists

Karnataka: Here is good news for nature lovers, wildlife enthusiasts, and adventurists. ‘The Canopy walk’ in the Kali Tiger reserve which is a major and unique eco-tourism attraction of Karnataka is now open for nature enthusiasts. This ‘Canopy Walk’ was built about four years ago, but was stopped due to the opposes of environmentalists and lack of road connectivity.

The Castle Rock Wildlife division in the Uttara Kannada (Karwar) forest division of this park has resumed trekking near the Dudhsagar waterfalls near the Kuveshi area in the Uttara Kannada (Karwar) district of Karnataka.

In a bid to promote eco-tourism, 240 meters of structure has been built between four large trees at the height of thirty feet. The visitors can trek in the rich flora and fauna in the dense forest. It is the first canopy walk that was constructed on the trees in the country and raised huge curiosity.

This unique canopy walk was inaugurated 4 years ago. However, it was not operational as environmentalists opposed this project because of the eco-sensitivity of the area. Since there is no proper connectivity, the villagers had demanded the construction of a road to resume the tour.

Despite the construction work completed, the canopy walk was remained unused for four long years. Now, the Castle rock division has resumed the guided trips.

According to the forest officials, The visitor can reach up to the forest check post near Kuveshi by vehicle and then has to start the walk.
