International Centre For Integrated Mountain Development(ICIMD) has elerted that the mount everest is loosing its snow cover at fast pace from the year 1990. In the research work conducted by ICIMD, scientists of the eight countries and 17 experts of Nepal have participated and closely observing the changes.

It is estimated that the ‘South Call’ glacier that is at the height of 8,020 meter from the sea level is melting at the rate of 2 meter per year. This fact revealed when the sample piece of the ‘South Call’ situated at the Nepal side of Mount everest collected for research study.

The meteorology centre situated at the tallest place of the world are found here. They are situated at the height of 7,945 meter and 8,430 meter. The information collected from these centers are also used in this study. Using radio carbon dating technology, it is revealed that the glacier is 2000 year old. However, the study says that the glacier is melting at 80 times fast then the time it taken to form.
