India: Despite the strict rules and regulations and their enforcement, wildlife crimes seem to continue to happen in various states of India. The efforts of the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau (WCCB) and forest departments of the states doing tremendous jobs to crack down the wildlife crimes in past one week. Here are some major cases exposed.

On July 11, a joint team of WCCB and Detective Dept., Kolkata Police, seized 3.11 kgs of Pangolin-scales and 38 Pangolin-claws from the possession of two persons at Kolkata.

In two days long operation on July 9 and 10,
Several wildlife contrabands, including 8 leopard-skins, 1 fake tiger-skin, 2 tiger-claws, and 1 leopard-canine were seized by a joint team of WCCB and Chhattisgarh and Odisha Forest Department from Kalahandi District of Odisha. A total of 7 persons were arrested in this offence.

On the intelligence of WCCB, one leopard-skin and one pangolin-skin with scales were seized and two wildlife traffickers were arrested by CIB, Nepal, on July 9, from Kathmandu.

720 pieces of Paintbrushes, made out of Mongoose hairs, were seized from a hardware shop by a joint team of WCCB and Pune Forest Division from Pune, on July 10.

A joint operation, conducted by WCCB, in association with Kerala Forest Department, led to the seizure of 19 kg of Ambergris (Sperm Whale vomit) and the arrest of 3 persons from Thrissur, Kerala, on July 9.

The wildlife enthusiast and environmentalists appreciated the work of WCCB and forest officials after seeing the information on the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change(MoEF&CC) official Twitter handler.
