Andhra Pradesh: Here is good news for the birdies. The popular bird sanctuary of Andhra is all set to re-open. The Uppalpadu bird sanctuary in the Guntur district which was closed for the past three months due to the prevailing COVID19 situation is now reopened for the visitors.

The sanctuary, a home for over 100 species of birds is located at Pedakakani in the Guntur district, about 15 kilometers away from the city.

The best time to visit this sanctuary is from October to March. However, due to the COVID19 situation, it was closed in the last week of March. According to the officials of the sanctuary, Over 25 species of birds visit the lake in the sanctuary for the past 50 years for nesting every year. Thus, the Uppalpadu village becomes a tourist hot spot in the Guntur district.

After the reopening of the sanctuary, people, specially birdies have started visiting here to sight the birds. The officials have taken all the measures to manage the crowd and have already sanitized the whole area. Wearing masks and maintaining social distance is mandatory in the sanctuary.
