America: In a shocking, a nine-year-old male snow leopard named ‘Ramil’ has tested positive for the Novel coronavirus at the San Diego Zoo on Friday.
The ‘Los Angeles Times ‘ reported that, After noticing the leopard coughing and its runny nose, the staff of the zoo tested the animal’s stool for the virus first. After the result came positive, the wildlife care team submitted the samples to the California Animal Health and Food Safety Laboratory system so that result should come clear and the result at the state level lab also came positive.
However, the zoo wants to triple-check the findings with the US Department of Agriculture and waiting for the third result. In its official statement, the Zoo officials said they are monitoring ‘Ramil’ and there is no progress in his symptoms.
Since, ‘Ramil’ shares an enclosure with the female snow leopard and two Amur leopards, staff are feeling that the other three big cats have been exposed and thus quarantining all of them. Authority has stopped exhibiting them to the public.
It can be recalled that the Gorilla troop become the first known example of the virus infecting apes. A tiger at the Bronx Zoo become the first case of animal testing to COVID19 in April 2020.
