Karnataka (Belagavi ): The conflict between humans and wildlife is a never-ending story. It is common that humans are attacking the wildlife by encroaching the forest land. But the story of forest dwellers is something quite different. They live in the forests for generations and become rightful members of the forests equivalent to the wilds of the forests. They never harm the ecology and accept the whatever losses created in their farms by the wild animals.

There are many such hamlets in the forests of Khanapur in Belagavi which have adapted to such a lifestyle and living there happily. Usually, reports of animal poaching, damages of the crops by wild animals are seen in this region. But this time there is a completely different story.

The forest dwellers of Karajagi hamlet in Khanapur Tehsil in Belagavi rescued, treated and released a Chital (Spotted Deer) into the forests. On Thursday (July 8), A spotted deer had entered the hamlet, but a group of dogs attacked the deer. The alerted youths in the hamlet rescued it from the dogs.

Later, with the help of local leader Aravind Patil, the villagers informed the forest personnel about the incident. Then the villagers and forest personnel took the deer to the primary health centre at Halashi village. After treating the deer by the veterinary doctors. The deer was released into the deep forests.

The samaritan work of the villagers is appreciated by the forest officials and asked them to keep informing if they across any wild animals so that they can be rescued safely.
